What Are Corrective LUTs?
Corrective LUTs fix the technical color issues that come from how cameras record footage. Most professional and semi-professional cameras offer Log shooting modes that capture a flat, desaturated image in order to preserve as much dynamic range as possible. While this is great for post-production flexibility, it means the raw footage looks washed out and unnatural straight out of the camera. A corrective LUT transforms that flat image into a balanced, natural-looking result and serves as the essential first step before any creative grading is applied.

When to Apply a Corrective LUT
Corrective LUTs always come first in the color workflow. Identify the Log profile you recorded in (e.g. S-Log3 for Sony, C-Log2 for Canon), download the matching corrective LUT from ContentCreator.com, and apply it to your footage before making any other color adjustments. In Adobe Premiere Pro, apply it under the Basic Correction tab in the Lumetri Color panel as an Input LUT, this ensures the correction is processed before any other grade or creative LUT is applied on top.
Once the corrective LUT is in place, your footage will look natural and balanced. From there, you’re ready to apply a creative LUT from the ContentCreator.com library to give your video its final style.
